The brief
Janet Watmore first told the story of Mr Bendy’s New Shoes to her daughter at bedtime, more than forty years ago. Her daughter never forgot it, and eventually persuaded her to publish it. The challenge was to turn a much-loved spoken story into a picture book that felt as warm and personal as the original telling, something the family could treasure and share with a new generation.
The outcome
Claire brought Mr Bendy to life through her illustrations, and Glenn designed the book, bringing words and pictures together across 36 pages. The finished book carries a dedication to the daughter who made it happen, turning a private family memory into a story others can now enjoy at bedtime too.
